Scarecrow Lane is back! Organizations, clubs, businesses, and individuals are invited to design their own scarecrow and set it up on the Cockayne lawn for all to admire. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded, based on votes cast by the public!
The scarecrows will be in residence from October 15 through October 31.
Special open times to see the scarecrows will be announced soon! Be sure to stop by the Farmstead during Trick or Treat for a special treat!
During open times, tickets to vote for your favorite scarecrow will be available for purchase for $1 per ticket, or 6 for $5, or 100 tickets with a $50 donation. Each scarecrow has a number, simply write the number on your tickets and drop them in the jar to vote!
Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners.
During special hours, there will also be a fun scarecrow craft for kids, spooky lights and decorations around the farmhouse, photo opportunities for the whole family, a coloring contest for children age 4-12, and and more! Be sure to stop by for some fall fun!
All proceeds from this event benefit the Cockayne Farmstead preservation project, a special project of the Marshall County Historical Society. Throughout the year, the Farmstead hosts educational and community building events for children and adults of all ages, in addition to preserving and maintaining one of the most unique historic buildings and collections in the state of West Virginia, right here in Marshall County.
