Hungry for History: Farming for a New Era with the Blended Homestead

  • Cockayne Farmstead 1111 Wheeling Avenue Glen Dale, WV, 26038 United States (map)

The Blended Homestead was started by Eric and Brianna Blend in 2016. They began with four egg layers, but within five years have expanded their business to a wide variety of homestead products, such as honey bees, laying chickens, broiler chickens, pasture raised pigs, shiitake mushrooms, baked goods, cutting boards, crocheted blankets, and more. Eric Blend will compare farming of the past and discuss the different techniques, tricks, and challenges of running a successful small family farm today.

Come and enjoy our free lunch-and-learn series, Hungry for History, hosted by the Marshall County Historical Society at the Cockayne Farmstead. All presentations are outdoors on Thursdays at noon. In case of inclement weather, the talk will be moved into the farmhouse. Bring a lunch if you choose, snacks provided!

The series is sponsored this year by the Rae Baker Family.
